'Ello, 'ello, 'ello.....whats going 'ere then?
Everyone else is doing it, so why aren't I?
Well I am now, so thank you for joining me as I start (or more accurately perhaps, restart) a blog.
I did have my own website on and off for a while, and I hope to one day restart that, but hopefully better than the previous attempts which looked like it had been designed by someone with no idea of coding or web design....largely because they had....
It's Wednesday March 16th 2022 and there is much happening in the world.
No-one with access to Internet, radio or TV will be unaware of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine at present, and the knock on effects that is having for a huge number of people right now, and almost certainly for many more people in the coming months.
Those of you who know my history will know that in 1996 I got involved in taking humanitarian aid to people who had become refugees as a result of the conflict which led to the break-up of Yugoslavia, via an organisation, whose ideals and christian principles matched the ones I've been pretty poor at displaying both before and after my initial involvement.
Those experiences, along with a desire to see every person treated with dignity and respect no matter what their background, or their current circumstances are, has led Karen, (my wife who I met on my very first trip to Serbia in 1996) and I to want to do what we can to help people who do not have access to the same range of services we do.
Currently, and unsurprisingly our focus is on the refugee situation as a result of the conflict in Ukraine, but also continuing to seek the best outcomes for those who were born here and in disadvantaged situations through homelessness or crippling poverty, as well as refugees who have come to the UK from Syria, Afghanistan and other places.
We hope to build a community of people, who like us, want to provide a place of safety, and opportunity to live, work, and share our common humanity for those arriving here.
Not every post will be like this, I'm sure as time continues on, there will be posts about our hobbies, other areas of interest and concern and much more besides, but for now I'd love you to join us in this and future posts.
If you have any questions or comments as a result of anything above or in future posts, please feel free to leave them below.
Until next time....
Love, blessings and peace to you from me,
Hudders
